One of the major concerns associated with getting a tattoo or a piercing is the possibility of contracting an infection or even a deadly disease. These are 100% legitimate concerns and should contribute to your decision on where you get a tattoo or piercing. Over the years myths and rumors have caused a certain degree of undue paranoia. However, regardless of bad propaganda infectious control is OUR number 1 priority!

Our sterilization procedures are not only there to protect our clients, but is also to protect ourselves and our families as well. Therefore, it is truly in our best interest to take every pre-caution to ensure all risks are minimized. Our sterilization methods and protocols include everything from barrier film to non-mandatory Spore Testing of our autoclave.

You don't have to worry at Tattoo Jonny's Studio. We have already done that for you!

All the sterilization takes place in this "Isolated Clean Room". Having a clean room is the greatest way to reduce the risk of cross-contamination.

We are so proud of our sterilization capability; we like to show it to everyone behind a glass window.

WE have nothing to hide!

 Autoclave
The most important piece of equipment that every tattoo studio should have is the autoclave.  We proudly use the Pelton and Crane Autoclave Sterilizers. This self-contained steam autoclave makes sterilization quick and efficient. The autoclave is the highest level of sterilization available on the planet. It will destroy all bacteria, micro organisms and blood born diseases. Including HIV and Hepatitis C.

 Ultrasonic Cleaner
Prior to inserting our tattoo and piercing tools into the autoclave, we are required to clean them first. For this task we use a L&R Ultrasonic Cleaner.
The ultrasonic cleaner uses sound waves at a rate 44,000 times a second to break up and dislodge blood and dirt particles from our tattoo and piercing tools.

 Spore Testing
Spore testing is a small piece of filter paper that is impregnated with thousands of bacterial spores. The strip is sealed in a permeable glassine envelope and is used to monitor the effectiveness of an autoclave sterilizer. When ran through a sterilization cycle, if the spores are destroyed, you can be assured that any potential pathogens on the items being sterilized have also been destroyed.

Tattoo Studios failing to implement this non-mandatory spore testing, unfortunately leave their client exposed to the very real threat of biological cross-contamination which can lead to diseases such as tuberculosis, hepatitis-c, and HIV. Each month we test our autoclave by inserting two test spore strips inside the sterilization chamber for the duration of one sterilization cycle. Once the cycle is complete, the two test strips are removed from the chamber placed in an envelope then mailed to the Confirm Monitoring Systems, Inc. lab for a seven-day analysis. Upon completion of the seven-day analysis official documentations is emailed to us will all the details and a simple pass/fail result. We proudly display these result on the wall of our studio.

If a studio has no official records of routinely passing spore tests, there is no way you can be assured that their sterilization process is safe and working properly.
